Act locally and win! Now through December 31, 2009, Ray's Food Place customers who choose Organic Valley products - milk, butter, eggs, and cheese - will earn EcoUnit credits. When you earn credits a "PIN Code" will be provided to you at check out. Simply sign up at http://ov.ecounit.com, enter your PIN Code, and start accumulating EcoUnit credits. With just 50 credits you can support local environmental causes - choose from the projects described below.
When you redeem 50 EcoUnit credits, American Forests will plant 1 tree as part of The Freshwater Trust's "100,000 Trees in the Deschutes River Basin" project. Help restore damaged river banks and protect the native fish stocks and water quality of the Deschutes River Basin. Restoring this watershed is beneficial to the habitat for chinook, lamprey, trout and steelhead.
Help us restore the habitat and prepare this stretch of the John Day River to become Oregon's largest state park recreation site. When you redeem 50 EcoUnit credits, Western Rivers Conservancy will plant one native willow tree along Hay Creek, an important tributary to the lower John Day River, as well as remove invasive species and clean up the watershed.
Help us permanently protect a 170-acre property along the Elk River on Oregon's Wild Rivers Coast. When you redeem 50 EcoUnit credits, Western Rivers Conservancy's partners will plant one cedar tree at the junction of the Elk River and Rock Creek. The cedar trees are an important part of the effort to permanently conserve this stretch of the Elk River for fish, wildlife and people.
Your 50 EcoUnit credits help to permanently protect 1 acre of land on the Klamath River through a unique partnership between the Yurok Tribe and Western Rivers Conservancy. Together we aim to restore the once-great salmon runs of the Klamath, protect habitat in one of the most biologically rich areas on Earth, and re-establish a homeland and economic base for the local Yurok Tribe.
